The government has amended the coronavirus (COVID-19) regulations to make clear that people who wish to move home can do so. This guidance provides important public health information to ensure that moving home and key activities around this, such as viewing property, can happen safely. 28th February 2020 - CMA finds evidence of serious issues in leasehold selling
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is concerned that leasehold homeowners have been unfairly treated and prospective buyers misled by housing developers. They have published an update on their investigations today. The update outlines their current thinking into whether there have been breaches of consumer protection law in the residential leasehold housing sector and next steps, including future enforcement action by the CMA and the need for legislative change.
As part of its work, the CMA is also developing consumer advice for people who own, or are looking to buy, a leasehold property. This will offer tips on what they can do when faced with permission fees and service charges they consider unjustified.
On 7th May 2019 the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government published an updated 'How to Buy Guide' full of useful information for those who are buying for the first time or after a long gap.
Their website says: 'The 'How to Buy Guide' provides homeowners and prospective homeowners with a helpful overview of the process of buying a home.
It sets out:

• where readers can find more information'
The Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA) is listed along with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Independent Surveyors and Valuers Association (ISVA). as a good place to find a suitably qualified surveyor.
